Dad’s Famous Green Hatch Chili Turkey Cheeseburgers

My dad’s Green Hatch Chili Turkey Cheeseburgers are famous in our household for good reason! These burgers have green hatch chilis in the mix, and a little extra on top underneath a blanket of melty pepper jack cheese. They’re so delicious and easy to make – you’ll understand why they’ve become a grill dinner staple in our house!

  • Non-stick Aluminum Foil
  • Tongs/Spatula
  • Grill (or Grill Pan)

  • Ground Turkey
  • Green Hatch Chilis (I love the 505 Southwestern Green Hatch Chilis)
  • Italian Breadcrumbs

Description

My dad’s Green Hatch Chili Turkey Cheeseburgers are famous for good reason! These burgers pack the flavor and a little heat with hatch chilis and melty pepper jack cheese.


Ingredients

Units Scale

3 pounds ground turkey

1/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs

2/3 cup green hatch chilis +1 tbsp/burger to top at the end

10 slices of pepper jack cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill on medium-high
  2. Combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, an green hatch chilis in a large bowl
  3. Form the mixture into even-sized balls and place them onto a sheet of non-stick foil (this will be transferred onto the grill so measure accordingly)
  4. Flatten the burgers by tossing them onto the foil or pressing them down with your hand and a sheet of parchment paper
  5. Transfer the burgers on the non-stick foil to the grill and close the lid. Cook for 10 minutes and then flip and close the grill to cook the burgers on the opposite side
  6. Cook for 8 minutes and then spoon 1 tbsp of green hatch chilis over the top of each burger, and place 1 slice of pepper jack cheese on top of the green hatch chilis. Close the grill lid again to allow the burgers to finish cooking and the choose to melt over the top
  7. Once cooked through, remove the burgers from the grill

Serve and enjoy!
